Guided by our commitment to sustainable development and humanitarian service, we are proud to introduce the Akwadum Village Improvement Project—a transformative initiative designed to improve the lives of the people of Akwadum Village, located near Koforidua in Ghana’s Eastern Region.
The Akwadum Village Improvement Project is a comprehensive community development programme that focuses on three critical pillars: Education, Healthcare, and Agriculture, while also addressing the nutritional needs of school children through a school feeding initiative. By tackling these essential areas, the project seeks to create lasting change that empowers individuals, strengthens families, and promotes self-reliance within the community.
Education remains one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. Through this project, Giving World International is committed to creating better learning opportunities for children by supporting schools with essential educational resources and fostering an environment where every child can receive quality education. We believe that investing in education today lays the foundation for stronger communities tomorrow.
Healthcare is another key focus of the project. Access to quality healthcare continues to be a challenge for many rural communities, and the Akwadum Village Improvement Project seeks to bridge this gap through health outreach programmes, community education, and basic medical support. By promoting healthy lifestyles and improving access to healthcare services, the project aims to enhance the wellbeing of women, children, and families throughout the village.
Agriculture serves as the primary source of livelihood for many residents of Akwadum. Recognising its importance, the project promotes sustainable farming practices that help improve food production, strengthen household incomes, and enhance food security. By equipping local farmers with practical knowledge and support, Giving World International hopes to foster economic resilience and long-term community development.
An equally important aspect of the initiative is the provision of hot meals for school children. Proper nutrition plays a vital role in a child’s physical growth, cognitive development, and academic performance. Through the school feeding component, the project ensures that children receive nutritious meals that enable them to remain healthy, focused, and ready to learn while easing the burden on families facing economic hardship.
Beyond these core interventions, the Akwadum Village Improvement Project is driven by a broader vision of community empowerment. It seeks to improve the overall quality of life for women and children, promote sustainable development, and encourage partnerships that create meaningful and measurable impact. To officially launch this initiative, Giving World International will host the Akwadum Village Improvement Project on Thursday, 26th February 2026, at 8:00 a.m. prompt at the Akwadum MA School Park, Akwadum, near Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The event will bring together community members, stakeholders, volunteers, and well-wishers to celebrate the beginning of this important journey toward sustainable community transformation.
