Shaping the Future: Empowering Young Minds Through AI and Digital Innovation

Aburi, Ghana – March 14, 2025 – In a groundbreaking collaboration, Giving World International (GWI) and the Commonwealth Youth Council have come together to equip young people with essential digital skills through an innovative event held at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School. This initiative aims to foster digital innovation, artificial intelligence (AI) education, and capacity-building opportunities among students and youth leaders.

The event, which took place at the Aburi Girls’ SHS Auditorium, was both physical and virtual, allowing broader participation. The session ran from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM GMT and welcomed approximately 200 students, including Form 3 and day students from the Aburi community. The target audience included youth leaders, policymakers, educators, and community stakeholders, all committed to shaping the digital future of young minds.

The program featured an esteemed lineup of keynote speakers who provided insight and diverse perspectives on the theme of digital empowerment. Hon. Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, Member of Parliament for the Akuapem South Constituency, graced the occasion as the Special Guest Speaker. Mr. Nanewortor Victor Kwame, a BTech ICT professional, served as the Main Speaker, while Priscilla Yeboah, President of Giving World International, hosted the session.

Throughout the event, students from various educational institutions actively participated, with representation from:

  • Aburi Girls’ SHS – 60 students
  • Aburi Presbyterian Secondary Technical School – 30 students
  • Adonten SHS – 40 students
  • Twafoman SHS – 30 students
  • Akuapem Technical Institute – 36 students

These schools contributed a total of 196 students, accompanied by nine teachers, three coordinators, and 12 supporting staff members. The engagement and enthusiasm of the students highlighted their eagerness to embrace digital literacy and AI knowledge, which are becoming increasingly vital in today’s fast-paced technological landscape.

The event underscored the importance of equipping young people with digital competencies to prepare them for the evolving job market and innovative leadership roles. Discussions also revolved around AI-driven solutions for community development, creating pathways for students to engage in technological advancements that drive social change.

As the event concluded, organizers and speakers encouraged students to leverage the knowledge gained and seek further opportunities in digital learning. The collaboration between GWI and the Commonwealth Youth Council is set to continue, with future programs aimed at expanding digital empowerment initiatives across Ghana and beyond.
